Kinematics and origin of the ringed bipolar nebula Mz 1
High resolution, spatially resolved measurements of the Hα, [NII] 6584 Å and [SII] emission lines of the bipolar planetary nebula Mz 1 have been obtained with the Manchester Echelle Spectrometer on the Anglo-Australian telescope. The echelle profiles for slit positions that cross the central nebular core have been analysed and related to a previously obtained CCD image of the region. A well def...
متن کاملSpectroscopy of the protoplanetary nebula AFGL 618
We report on new optical spectroscopic observations of the protoplanetary nebula AFGL 618. Compared to older observations we find a change in some emission line ratios indicating dynamical evolutionary processes during the last few years. Possible reasons for this behaviour are discussed.
متن کاملThe Structure of the Prototype Bipolar Protoplanetary Nebula Crl 2688 (egg Nebula): Broadband, Polarimetric, and H2 Line Imaging with Nicmos on the Hubble Space Telescope
High-resolution near-infrared (1.65–2.1 mm) images and 2 mm polarimetric images of the inner 190.5 # 190.3 region of the bipolar protoplanetary nebula CRL 2688, taken with the newly installed Near-Infrared Camera and Multiobject Spectrometer (NICMOS) aboard the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), are reported. The NICMOS images reveal a wealth of structure also seen in HST Wide Field Planetary Camera...
متن کاملThe shock structure in the protoplanetary nebula M 1–92: imaging of atomic and H2 line emission
We presentHST imaging of continuum (5500 Å) and atomic line (Hα, [OI] 6300 Å, [SII] 6717 and 6731 Å, and [OIII] 5007 Å) emissions in the protoplanetary nebula M 1–92. Ground based imaging of 2μmcontinuum andH2 ro-vibrational (S(1) v=1-0 and v=2-1 lines) emission has been also performed. The 5500 Å continuum is due to scattering of the stellar light by grains in a double-lobed structure comparab...
متن کاملBipolar Symbiotic Planetary Nebulae in the Thermal-ir: M 2-9, Mz 3, and He 2-104
We present thermal-infrared images of three extreme bipolar objects, M 2-9, Mz 3, and He 2104. They are bipolar planetary nebulae with bright central stars and are thought to be powered by symbiotic binary systems. The mid-infrared images spatially resolve the spectral energy distributions of the central engines from the surrounding nebulae. A warm dust component of several hundred degrees can ...
